近くの人々・遠くの人々・地球

世界人口は、現在、７０億を突破し、このまま順調に行けば、２１世紀末には、１００億を超えると予想される。この限られた地球上に、これだけの数の人間が生活するという点でも問題はあるが、ここでは、身の回りに居る近くの人々と直接会うことのない遠い人々に対する優先順位付けを中心に考えてみたい。

近くの人々は、多くても、遠くの人々の0.00001％程度、人によっては、0.000001％程度である。これだけ限られた人々であるから、相争うことは愚の骨頂、大切にしなければならない。遠くの人々よりも優先順位が高いのは、人間として、当然である。近くの人々と仲良く楽しく暮らすことが、何より一番、人生の幸せである。マス・メディアなどを通して出来上がる（一方通行の）近くの人々は、これより、遠い関係にあることを知らなくてはいけない。親・兄弟を低く見て有名人に憧れる若者、育てられた故郷を忘れて都会の人々に憧れる若者は、悪いとは言わないが、余り美しくはない。

だが、ここで、気付かなければならないことがある。思い余って、近くの人々の利益のために遠くの人々を害すれば、廻り回って近くの人々を害することになるということだ。自己の利益のために他者を害すれば、廻り回って自己を害することになるのと同じだ。具体例を一つ挙げれば、どんな状況下であろうとも、戦争は絶対にいけないという話である。自然宇宙を支配する因果の仕組みには、厳然たる作用・反作用の法則が含まれている。

全ては、バランスの問題である。近くの人々を優先しながらも全体の共存共栄を考えなければならない。人類は、一つの集合動物であり、個々の人間はそのパーツなのだ。全体を破壊すれば、そのパーツもやがて破壊される。

考えを更に拡げてみよう。地球は、一つの集合動物であり、個々の人間はそのパーツなのだ。人間の活動は、常に、自然との共生を念頭に置きながら、行われなければならない。お金（経済・産業）のために自然の循環を次々と破壊すれば、そのパーツである人間もやがて破壊される。
