愛と想像力を育むには Love and Imagination

お祖父さん、お祖母さんがいる。幼児は、寝る前に、お祖父さん、お祖母さんから、毎晩、毎晩、昔話を聞く。幼児は、これが大好きで、必ず寝る前におねだりする。同じ話を何回繰り返してもよい。幼児が喜んで聞くなら、それでよい。お祖父さん、お祖母さんも、これが嬉しい。
これは、一つの例え話であるが、このような雰囲気や環境が、幼児の愛と想像力を育むのである。この幼児は成長して、愛に満ち溢れた想像力豊かな人間になる可能性が大きい。

因果が絡んでこのような環境は出来上るのだが、自由意志によるところも大きい。但し、予め計画して作ることはできない。飽くまでも、個々人の自発性によっているからだ。お金を払って仕事として昔話を聞かせたとしても、そこに、お祖父さんやお祖母さんの愛は存在しない。幼児を初めとして、関わる全ての人たちに、自発的に生じる愛や喜びがなければならないからだ。物質文明はこの点を見逃している。情報だけでは人間は豊かに育たない。
幼児は、愛の本質に触れて、その意味と価値、その感情エネルギーを無意識的に吸収する。守られているという安心感も付随する。それが繰り返されることで、幼児の心の中に、後天的に、具現化した愛の感情との強い紐付けが出来上がるのだ。

一方、お祖父さんやお祖母さんは、単にお話をするだけで、そこには絵本のような具体的なイメージはない。それが、又必要なのだ。幼児は愛と安心感の中で、その時期に与えられた本能的な力を駆使して、想像の翼を大きく広げる。話の中身から、イメージが次々と湧き上がり、昔話は絵本のイメージ以上に生きて彩り豊かなものとなる。そこでは、様々な感情が幼児のイメージに入り乱れ、意味と価値を強く浮き上がらせる。このようにして想像力は豊かな感情と共に育まれ、思考の力も成長していく。

因みに、想像力を駆使して理想的な生きたイメージを楽しむ為には、テレビ、映画、ＩＴ動画などは不向きだ。漫画本は、まだ絵と絵の間を理想的な動きで繋ぐこともできるが、全てのイメージと動きが与えられてしまうと、想像力の働く余地は少なくなる。
動画は情報収集には適しているが、想像を本当の意味で味わうのであれば、他者が作ったことによる限界が立ち塞がる。自分の好きな小説が映画化されたのを見れば、このことがよく分かる筈だ。
