雰囲気とその力 Atmosphere and Power

物質文明の下で、その存在について曖昧な扱いを受けている雰囲気の話をしたい。即ち、「空気を読めない人」の「空気」である。雰囲気は見えないが、「見えないものでもあるんだよ」と、ここで強く言いたい。なぜなら、雰囲気は、権力者でさえも、それに抵抗することが難しい強い力を持っているからである。

見えないものには、大きく分けて二種類ある。例えば、「呼吸する空気」や「熱」のように目には見えないがこの世（物質宇宙）の物質やそのエネルギーとして存在するものと、ここで言う雰囲気のように、この世には存在せずあの世（非物質宇宙）に存在するものの二つである。

＊   ここで述べられていることをよりよく理解するためには、＜堀込清一の【宇宙と心】＞の＜心はどこに存在するのか＞＜この世に一番近いあの世の領域・その1＞などを参照してください。

雰囲気の核となる個人の心に沸き上がるイメージや概念、それを支える感情、その感情の中に潜んでいる意味と価値は、二つの伝染ルートを通じて、関連集団内に蔓延する。関連集団は、地域の集まり、趣味のサークル、コンサートの観客から、政治団体、国民全体、全人類まで、多種多様で無数にある。

第一のルートはこの世の多くの人々の言動、例えば、噂や評判、流言飛語、そして、多くの人々の情動、例えば、感激、興奮、不安、恐怖などとそれに伴う肉体の状態変化や無意識の行為、これらが絡み合って関連集団内に溢れ、伝染・共鳴して、雰囲気となっていく。マス・メディアやインターネットなどは、これをさらに増幅する。第二のルートはあの世に始まる集合記憶伝達によるものである。あの世の関連集団の雲に、或る限度を越えて共通経験記憶とそのエネルギーが蓄積すると、その集団の人々の心の中で、その記憶に絡む伝染が急激に広がっていく。このルートでは意味と価値、そして、それを包含する感情が、理屈や道理を超えて、心に湧き上がって来る。従って、一度感染してしまうと、これに自由意志を持って抵抗することは、権力者を含め普通の人間では極めて難しい。この意味に於いて、雰囲気は強い力を持つものである。さらに、この感染は、二つのルートを通じて、この世からあの世へ、あの世からこの世へと、循環（創造循環）を繰り返して雪達磨式に拡大する。大組織は、自分たちに有利な雰囲気が生まれるように、一般民衆に向かって、常時、膨大な数の情報発信を続けている。膨大な数の受信者に膨大な数の発信をすることで、この二つのルートに、雪達磨式の循環拡大が始まることを経験的に知っているのである。

雰囲気と言っても色々なものがある。数人の友人の間に出来上がる一時的な雰囲気もある。それはこの世で生じ、あの世にとどまり、循環が生じることはない。ここで言う雰囲気とは、通常使われるものより、やや意味が広い。政治家・芸能人・スポーツ選手のイメージや人気、会社・商品のブランド、流行、ブーム、ムード、偏見、世相、景気感なども含まれている。また、「この世にある象徴から溢れ出るあの世にある本質の意味と価値、そして、そこから湧き上がる感情など」を雰囲気と言うこともある。例えば、一二月になると、クリスマスの雰囲気が漂う。また、「静かな雰囲気の森だ」などとも言う。

注意しなければならないものは、二つのルートで雪達磨式の急激な循環拡大をする雰囲気だ。これには良いものもあれば悪いものもある。隠れた本質が反映されているものもあれば、そうでないものもある。いずれにせよ、極めて強い力を持つ可能性がある。ヒトラーが考え出したとされる広報テクニックは、今や、広く企業の広告宣伝に利用されている。この人心操作術が、ユダヤ人大量虐殺を招いたのだが、今は、お金が支配する世の中の形成に役立っている。

圧倒的多数の民衆が醸し出す、いわゆる社会的雰囲気は、一度出来上がると、仮に、それが社会を大混乱に導くものであっても、止めることは難しい。雰囲気を支える感情、それが包含する意味と価値が強ければ強いほど、それを阻止することは、困難になる。先の見える一部の人々の警告は無視され、そのような警告を発するものは、一般民衆から、変り者、裏切り者、非国民などと罵られ、蔑視される。

このような状況になると、政界も、メディア業界も、その本質を露わにする。なんと、その分野の主流派が、この多数派民衆の支持に回るのである。一部の政治家やマス・メディアが一般民衆を煽って来たようにも見えるのだが、回り回って、その結果、一般民衆の間に強い社会的雰囲気が出来上がると、今度は、政治家やマス・メディアが、それに従わざるを得ない状況に陥るのだ。芯のある政治家・ジャーナリスト・知識人は、左遷されたり、拷問を受けたりする。我が国に於ける先の大戦が、その典型例だった。一般民衆には疫病ばかりでなく、この種の雰囲気病に対するワクチンも用意しなければならない。

因みに、中国には、「歴史書に何が書かれていても、農民の醸し出す社会的雰囲気が結局世の中を変えて来た」とする歴史観がある。現在では、農民と言うより、一般民衆と言った方が良いかも知れない。支配者は、いつでも、自分の力で世の中を変えたと歴史に記すが、一般民衆の醸し出す社会的雰囲気が変われば、やがて、呆気ない最期を遂げることになるのだ。これは、人類全体の歴史を見ても、当てはまることである。
