２３）価値は何にあるのか

この世の衣食住に物質は欠かせない。物質は肉体にとって不可欠であることも事実だ。しかし、心にとって価値あるものは、直接的には、物質ではない。この点を考えてみよう。

ダイアモンドという物質がある。それが価値あるものとして心に映るのは、あの世に存在する法則、論理、概念、イメージ、記憶、感情などの働きがあるからだ。もし騙されて、よく出来たカットガラスをダイアモンドと勘違いしても、心に映るものは同じである。ずっと騙されていれば、その人にとって、それはダイアモンドと同じ価値がある。このような視点に立って、物質そのものに価値があるのか、あの世にある物質ではない「何か」に価値を感じるのか、よく見極める必要がある。

この見極めは、ぼんやりしていると簡単ではない。まず感覚器官が働く。例えば、捉えられた色や形などが、瞬時に物理脳から心を経由してあの世に到達する。そして、そこから、それに関連した「法則、論理、概念、イメージ、記憶、感情などが絡む総合的な何か」が引き出され、その「何か」が、今度は、逆方向に、心にダウンロードされる。そのダウンロードされる「何か」は、その時の環境、その人の経験や性質などによって、当然、異なるわけだが、この「何か」の構成要素である法則、論理、概念、イメージ、記憶、感情などに加えて、この「何か」の底を流れる「法則、論理、概念、イメージ、記憶、感情などの源」とも言うべき原初から存在する普遍的な非物質エネルギー、特に、感情エネルギーによって、心にとっての意味と価値が生み出されるのである。因みに、この自然の仕組みは、美術、音楽、文学、デザイン、演劇など、あらゆる芸術分野に於ける意味と価値についても当てはまるものだ。

「この世のもの」を知覚すると、心で、瞬時に、その価値を感じるので、ぼんやりしていると、「物質そのものに、価値がある」という錯覚が生じ易い。だが、前述の通り、価値の源はあの世にあるのだ。

例を挙げれば、ミラクル・フルーツを食べた後に、レモンをかじると、甘く感じる。レモンの酸っぱさは、その感覚器官刺激が物理脳を経由して心に到達し、あの世からそれに関連する何かを引き出して、心が感じているものなのだ。だから、ミラクル・フルーツによって、味覚機能に変化が生じると、心は甘く感じる。このことからも、心で感じるレモンの酸っぱさは、この世には存在していないことが分かる。味覚機能が正常であれば心で酸っぱく感じるような化学物質がレモンに存在するだけの話であり、普遍的な酸っぱさがレモンに存在するわけではない。

更に、別の例を挙げよう。人間関係の些細な事柄に悩む度に、自分の所有する富士の名画を一人静かに見る人がいる。「富士山の雄大な姿を見て湧き上がる感情が、この世の小さな悩みを笑い飛ばしてくれる」と言う。一方、或る達人は「この世のもの」の知覚を省いて、「イメージや概念をいきなり心に想い浮かべ、それに伴って湧き上がる好ましい感情を味わう」と言う。例えば、嘗て、夢で見た素晴らしい風景とそれに伴う心躍る感情を想起して、ネガティブな感情を駆逐するというものだ。

これらを実践するには、自然宇宙の真実を理解して、盲信、即ち、「物質が全てという信仰」を捨て去る必要がある。「この世の感覚器官を通さずとも、あの世を探索して、心に湧き上がる価値を楽しむことができる」ということは厳然たる事実である。

高価な宝石を身に付け、素晴らしい芸術品を愛好する。初めはワクワクするが、徐々に飽きが来る。それでも、「あらゆる意味で物質には価値がない」と言っているのではない。素晴らしい「この世のもの」は、感覚器官を通して、素晴らしい本質を、あの世から簡単にダウンロードしてくれる。それは、そういう意味で、とても素晴らしいことである。

しかし、ここでは、「アンテナを心の方向に向けて変えることもできるよ」と言いたいのだ。道端の小さな花が一生懸命咲いているのを見ると感動する。秋の穏やかな光の中では心が安らぐ。子供たちの遊ぶ姿と歓声に生命のエネルギーを感じる。ただ、それらを心の中に想起するだけでも嬉しくなる。望む気持ちさえあれば、そして、アンテナの向きを変える知恵があれば、自然宇宙から無限の価値が無償で与えられるのである。
