３２）意味価値感情

広い定義で感情を考えた場合、その根源的なものの一つとして意味価値感情がある。

意味価値感情とは、文字通り、心の中で意味や価値を感じ取る感情である。喜怒哀楽など、通常、我々が感情と呼んでいるものの底辺を支えている。意味や価値が感じられなければ、喜怒哀楽も生じようがない。

意味価値感情は論理とも関連がある。論理の根幹を支える真実感や納得感は、この意味価値感情からやって来ている。論理は真理感や納得感に直結しているとも言える。しかしながら、正確な論理から外れていたとしても、錯覚で真実感や納得感が生じることはある。即ち、意味価値感情は、論理と共に根源的なものではあるが、異なるものである。

意味価値感情は、論理や法則、外部との関連性とは、全く無縁に、生じることがある。例えば、嗅覚刺激によって、何の介在物も無しに、直接的に、本能的に、意味価値感情が生じる。或る種の香りは、無条件で、幸福感を生じさせ、又、別の香りは、嫌気を生じさせる。これとは逆に、過去の経験が絡む嗅覚刺激によって、様々な感情が湧き上がる場合も多い。

どのような外部刺激がどのような意味価値感情を生じさせるのかは、基本的には、本能によって紐付けされている。先天的に論理や法則と結び付けられているものも多い。これに加えて、経験や学習から、個々に、集団的に、紐付けが変更されたり、増加していく。実は、此処に、この世の大きな存在意義がある。

一方、外部刺激が無くても、意味価値感情は生じる。心に思い浮かべる記憶・概念・イメージだけで、様々な意味価値感情を生じさせることができる。辛い経験も、視点を変えるだけで、充実した意味を持たせることは可能である。錯覚であっても、意味価値感情は生じる。ガラス球を水晶球と錯覚すれば、価値は生じるのだ。

以上より、意味や価値は、外部刺激や物にあるのではないことが分かる。意味価値感情こそが意味や価値の源泉なのである。筆者の言う、この意味を、深いレベルで理解すれば、生き物は何のために生まれて来たのか、どうすれば幸せになれるのか、が分かってくる。物と環境、科学とその技術は、とても大切なものだが、意味や価値の本当の出処を忘れた物金至上主義からは、そろそろ卒業しなければならない。
